How hard is it to follow Instructions

Life is tough right? We have to give equal attention to various tasks throughout the day as well as balance our lives. My experience is that,we actually love instructions, by following instructions and completing tasks we feel a sense of accomplishment, wheather at work or play.If men successfully assemble a chair or babys crib, they feel as though they can conquer the world! Similarly if we as woman present a perfectly roasted leg of lamb with all the bells and whistles we feel great.

If we host a successful event or blow the media and our clients away with a creative product launch, no matter how many hours we have worked or how tired we are, we are happy.
So following instrauctions make us happy, it contributes to our sense of accomplishment which feeds our ego and increases our self esteem. What about following the instructions at the back of a packet for instant cakes and treats? its really quik and easy but sometimes we want to add our own touch of this or that to "spice it up" and the end result is not always that amazing. Following Instructions is safe for us, there is a predicatble outcome and we are comfortable with that.

But my question is, if following instructions is easy, predicatble and safe, why is there a part of us that wants to go left when the instruction is to go right? why do we wonder what if..., after we have made decisions? and why do we rise up against authority?

My answer to the aforementioned would be that we as creative human beings want to create our own destinies, not follow "instructions" to a happy life, we want to make our own experiences - even if they are bad and we want to continiously improve.

So while following instructions has its place - we have to take chances and risks to live our best lives and in order to be true to who we are!

Happy following!
